Realign & Unwind
Your smile is special—just like you. That’s why our Danzer Orthodontics team designs your treatment plan just for you. When you begin treatment with Dr. Danzer, we start with a comprehensive exam and 3D imaging. Why all the fuss over technology? Tools like 3D imaging give us a real inside scoop on what’s going on with your jaws and teeth (and the muscles and bones around them).
Dr. Danzer uses 3D imaging so your clear aligners fit your teeth. Each tray should lock into place without any excess movement. Different smiles have different needs, so Dr. Danzer considers your situation before he makes any decisions. Rest easy! With our Owensboro and Hardinsburg teams, you’re in good hands.
We’ll keep you informed every step of the way, and you’ll get to see a digital preview of your future smile. Our customized approach makes the process more efficient and gives you peace of mind.
Overcoming Aligner Anxiety
When you first start wearing your clear aligners, it’s normal for them to feel a little off. You might notice some slight pressure on your teeth, especially during the first few days of wearing a new set. Don’t worry; it’s a good sign that the aligners are doing their job and are gradually moving your teeth where they ought to be!
Some patients initially describe the feeling as snug or tight. The pressure usually eases up after a day or two. Your mouth is simply adjusting to the aligners. And before long, they’ll feel like second nature. If you ever feel unsure, Dr. Danzer and our team are always here to help you through the adjustment period.
Aligning In Style
For your clear aligners to do their job, you’ll need to wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day. It might sound like a lot! But the good news is you can easily take them out for meals and brushing. Just remember to put them back in when you’re done!
The more consistent you are with wearing your aligners, the quicker you’ll see results. Dr. Danzer recommends following the schedule so your teeth stay on track. Clear aligners are discreet enough that most people won’t even notice them, whether you’re at work, school, or out with friends.
Fewer Office Visits (Yay!!)
We love seeing you in our Owensboro and Hardinsburg offices! However, one of the best perks of clear aligner treatment is that it requires fewer office visits. Guess we’ll just have to get used to seeing you less often! With Dr. Danzer’s expert planning, you’ll receive a series of aligners that do most of the work while you’re at home. You’ll typically switch to a new set of aligners every couple of weeks. Each set in the sequence will move your teeth closer to their ideal position.
While you won’t need to come into the office as often, Dr. Danzer will still monitor your progress. If you have questions or concerns between visits, our team at Danzer Orthodontics is just a call away. More progress at home means fewer interruptions to your busy schedule!
Real Results in Real Time
With clear aligners, change happens gradually—and that’s a good thing! Your first set will move your teeth a little. The second set, a bit more. And so on.
You’ll switch to a new set of aligners every one to two weeks, and each set will move your teeth slightly closer to our goal. The shifts may be subtle at first. But you’ll notice the difference over time as your teeth slowly align into their proper positions.
Patience is critical during this process. While you might not see dramatic changes overnight, trust that your treatment works steadily. Dr. Danzer will check in with you regularly to keep tabs on how your treatment is going. Before you know it, you can look back and see how far your smile has come!
Clean & Clear
Keeping your aligners clean is really important for your oral health and the success of your treatment. The good news? It’s easy! When you take your aligners out to eat, rinse them before putting them back in. You can also use a soft toothbrush and clear, mild soap. But remember to stay away from toothpaste! It’s too abrasive for your aligners.
Our Danzer Orthodontics team recommends soaking your aligners in a specialized cleaning solution or mixing water and vinegar daily to keep them fresh. Keeping your aligners clean helps them stay clear and invisible and keeps bacteria and plaque from building up. Clean aligners = a healthier smile!
Clearing Up Your Speech
When you first begin wearing clear aligners, you might notice a difference in how you speak. Some patients report a temporary lisp. Others feel like their mouth is having trouble adjusting to the new trays. Don’t worry—this is part of the process and usually disappears after a few days.
Your tongue and mouth need a little time to get used to your aligners. The more you wear and talk with them, the faster your speech will return to normal. If you’re self-conscious, try reading aloud or chatting with friends to help speed up the adjustment process.
